Where should we go to take your photos? We specialize in outdoor and on-location portrait photography, so we go where you are. If you swim, we go to the pool or beach. If you play football, we are at the stadium, weight room or practice field. If you farm, we will join you in the country. We will join you in the parks or in your backyard. I do not yet have a studio, but we can shoot indoors on location. With digital sensors, we can easily adjust color balance and shoot at indoor light levels in ways that were difficult a few years ago. So relax in your favorite places and just have fun, relaxed smiles are always the best.
I strive to make photo shoots fun for everyone involved, so I work out the details ahead of time. There is much thought that goes into this process than what one might imagine. Not everyone"s likes and dislikes are the same. So usually after the consultation, I have pretty good ideas for photos. Ones that I believe that will help to bring out your personality. Sometimes during the actual photo shoot, this happens spontaneously; other times it takes deliberate posing. As noted by Seneca, "Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity." We prepare with the consultation so that we can find opportunities during the photo shoot.
Each of us have have faces and bodies that are unique, so there are no universal poses. I will try my best to pose you the way that makes you look your best. People have asked me where I come with poses. I do not have a secret code book for this although at times I wished I did. I usually go to the library and local bookstore and look at many magazines and books.
Also I search the web for new ideas. I have discovered innovative photographers throughout the country. Some of these photographers have become my friends and we review each other"s work. When we exchange ideas, each of us can bring something new or fresh to the discussions and each of us emerges with fresh ideas for poses, lighting techniques and image processing. Sometimes, clients have come to me with photos that they have seen and would like to try for themselves. Look through my galleries for ideas. If you find pictures from other photographers that you like, bring them along. While not every pose works for everybody, there are lots of ideas that are worth a shot. So if you see something you would like to try, let"s give it a go. Fresh ideas can come from anywhere, and they lead to fresh photographs of you. Keep in mind though, that this doesn't mean that your photo will look exactly like the sample you brought along. It means, I will look at it and try to put our own little spin on it.
